Fascinating and important letter handwritten by the holy Rav Rabbi Sholom of Schotz, lamenting the situation of his beloved grandsons in the Holy land, the members of the pedigreed Halberstam family and asking to support them.
The letter was sent to his relative on Eretz Yisroel and begins with blessings for his engagement:’יתן השם יתברך את האשה הבאה לביתו כרחל וכלאה לבנות בית נאמן לד’ בבנים ובני בנים עוסקים באורייתא מתוך נחת והרחבה ושמחה וכל טוב סלה.
Then he discusses the situation of his young, orphaned grandsons of the Halberstam family: the future Geonim brothers Rabbi Moshe, Rabbi Naftali and Rabbi Meir Halberstam.
He also asks that the holy Rav the Beis Yisroel of Ger intervene and assist his grandson Meir, requesting that he try harder since he is capable of doing a lot.
The holy Gaon Rabbi Sholom of Schotz [1878-1958] a descendant of the Zlotchov, Belz and Premishlan Chassidisms. One of the greatest Admorim of his generation. A famed wonder worker. Knowledgeable in all parts of the Torah. Was famed for the power of his prayers. Served as Rav of Schotz since 1903. In 1927 he moved to London.
