Sefer Tzeror Hachaim, on some tractates and most of the large Sugyot of the Shas, by Rabbi Shmuel Shmelke ben Rabbi Yosef [Klein]. Pinchas Blaier Press, Munkatch, 1876. First edition.
[10], 94, [3] leaves. 34 cm. With stamps and an ownership notation of the Beis Midrash Chasam Sofer Tanina, headed by the holy Gaon Rabbi Moshe Yosef Hoffman and with stamps of Rabbi "Moshe Yosef Hoffman".
The Holy Gaon Rabbi Moshe Yosef Hoffman, known as The Dayan of Pápa [1843-1928], his rabbis said that he was a Kaddosh Merachem who was recognized by his holiness his entire life. He received his Semicha from his great Rav the Mahari Assad, and served as Rosh Yeshiva in his city of Serdhaly. From 1882 until 1906 he served as Dayan and Moreh Tzeddek in Pápa and in 1906 immigrated to the Holy Land, living in Jerusalem and studying Torah in the Beis Midrash of the Basei Ungarin neighborhood. He used to sit all day with his Tefillin and write hundreds and thousands of leaves with Torah innovations, which were kept in the attic of the synagogue until disappearing from there. His great diligence and piety were wonderous. Gaon in Nigleh and Nistar. A modest man who merited seeing Eliyahu. A miracle-worker.
