65 leaves. 28 cm. The last leaf with the list of subscribers is missing. Embossed on the binding is its title and the name of the owner, Rabbi Yoel Zvi Roth. With a stamp of rabbi Zalman Pinchas Kaplan and an ownership notation by Rabbi Moshe ben Rabbi Avraham.
Rabbi Zalman Pinchas Kaplan (1853-1921) was a student of the Volozhin Yeshiva. Author of Shut, Drush and innovation books. Was the son-in-law of Rabbi Meir Michl Rabinowitz of Shot, author of HaMeir LaOlam, and served as his rabbinic assistant. Later he became the disciple of the Gaon Rabbi Gershon Tanchum of Minsk and received his rabbinic Semicha from him. Served as Rav of Jenza and Gilvan.
Rabbi Yoel Zvi ben Rabbi Yaakov Moshe Roth (1898-1958) Av Beis Din and Ram of Tissa Salka and rav of the Beis Midrash of his uncle in Kleinwardein. Was the great-grandson of the author of Beit Hayotzer and son-in-law of Rabbi Chaim Shlomo Halevi Rottenberg, the Admor and Av Beis Din of Koson. Was a disciple of his uncle Rabbi Chaim Meshulam Fisch Spitzer and of his stepfather Rabbi Aharon Yeshaya Fisch of Odessa. After the war, immigrated to Brooklyn where he served as Rav of the Kehal beis hayotzer Beis Midrash. Author of Me’at Tzori, Sha’arei Midot and Chelev Chagi.
Simple binding with gilt lettering. Stains. Blemishes to the edges of the first and last leaves, some of them affecting the text. Folds to corners. Fair condition.
