Important historical letter about the efforts made to appoint the famed holy Rav, the author of the Magalei Tzedek of Deyzh, as Rav of Karlsburg after the passing of his famed father the Mareh Yechezkel. 1850. 

The letter is also signed by the uncle, the holy Rav Rabbi Yonah Heilperin, the Mareh Yechezkel’s brother-in-law, who asks about his nephew and the Rebbetzin, and the pious Rebbetzin Mrs. Chaya Rachel, the Mareh Yechezkel’s wife. 

The historical letter was sent by "his friend Simcha … ben Moshe David Laser of Karlsburg" who was a wealthy businessman in the town and made big efforts to appoint the son, the Magalei Tzedek of Deyzh as Rav of Karlsburg. The uncle, Rabbi Yonah Heilperin, was also involved, asking to send the Rabbinic certificate of the father, the Mareh Yechezkel. 

The holy Rav Rabbi Menachem Mendel Panet of Deyzh [1818-1885] the son of the holy Rav Rabbi Yechezkel Panet author of the Mareh Yechezkel. Rabbi Mendel was a close disciple of the Chasam Sofer who used to call him ‘Der Zeidener Bochur’. Rabbi Mendel was the only student of the Pressburg Yeshiva who used to wear Chassidic clothes. The disciples of the Chasam Sofer recalled that Rabbi Menachem Mendel was once present when Eliyahu Hanavi revealed himself to the Chasam Sofer. Served as Rav of Deyzh since 1858. Author of Magaeli Tzedek, Sharei Tzedek, Mishpat Tzedek and Avnei Tzedek.
