Halachic letters handwritten by the Magalei Tzedek of Deyzh, the holy Gaon Rabbi Menachem Mendel Panet of Deyzh, sent to his father the great Gaon author of the Mareh Yechezkel of Deyzh.
The response to the letters appears in Shut Mareh Yechezkel Siman 94 and Siman 88, on the Din of someone who has three names and is called only by one and on the Din of Mesader Gett who is the husband’s relative.
The questions were handwritten by his son, the holy Gaon Rabbi Menachem Mendel, author of Magalei Tzedek.
The holy Rav Rabbi Menachem Mendel Panet of Deyzh [1818-1885] the son of the holy Rav Rabbi Yechezkel Panet author of the Mareh Yechezkel. Rabbi Mendel was a close disciple of the Chasam Sofer who used to call him ‘Der Zeidener Bochur’. Rabbi Mendel was the only student of the Pressburg Yeshiva who used to wear Chassidic clothes. The disciples of the Chasam Sofer recalled that Rabbi Menachem Mendel was once present when Eliyahu Hanavi revealed himself to the Chasam Sofer. Served as Rav of Deyzh since 1858. Author of Magaeli Tzedek, Sharei Tzedek, Mishpat Tzedek and Avnei Tzedek.
[1] leaf, folded in four and written on all sides. Not signed. Much water damage. Wear and some faded letters. Late erasure of several lines at the beginning of the letter. Good condition.
