Request form signed by Maran the great Gaon author of Kehilot Yaakov – the Steipler, for the immigration of his brother-in-law the Gaon Rabbi Shmuel Kagan to the Holy Land. 1936.

The Steipler writes of himself that he is Reish Metivta at the Beit Yosef Yeshiva Novhardok of Bnei Berak noting that the great Gaon Rabbi Yonasson Binyomin Horowitz, the rav of Meah She’arim, can attest to it.

The Steipler also writes that the aforementioned is 54 years old and his wife is 44. The children’s details were not written since the Kahn-Kagan couple were childless.

Rabbi Shmuel Eliyahu Kahn-Kagan was the son-in-law of the Gaon Rabbi Shemaryahu Yosef Karlitz of Kosovo and the brother-in-law of Maran the Chazon Ish and of the Steipler. He perished in the Holocaust, not managing to immigrate to Eretz Yisroel despite this request form.
