Responsum on Hilchot Amira Lanichri Bebechor, handwritten by the holy Gaon Rabbi Meir Leib Pria Av Beis Din of Shuran, ‘Heiliger Shuraner Rov’ and with his signature.
This responsum was written as a sequel to a letter, yet it contains all his Halachic and Pilpul words that appeared in the letter. He begins the letter by stating it is a sequel and that since it is difficult for him to write, he will respond only to the end of his words.
The letter ends with his blessings: והי’ זה שלום מאת ידידו מוקירו ומכבדו המצפה לחסדי ד’ בקרוב שירים קרן עמו ישראל וירחם על פליטת שאריו ויקבץ נדחינו בקרוב כעתירת נפש החותם ברגשי כבוד ויקר.
The Gaon Rabbi Meir Leib Pria Av Beis Din of Shuran, ‘Der Heiliger Shuraner Rov’ [1878-1944] a leading contemporary Rosh Yeshiva and Posek. His father, Rabbi Yitzchak Zvi, was the beloved son-in-law of the Kesav Sofer. On the day he married his cousin, the daughter of the Gaon Rabbi Yeshayahu Ehrenfeld, he was appointed his successor and became known as the Shuraner Rov.
