Letter handwritten and signed by the Tzaddik gaon Rabbi Yitzchak Prague Oplatka, a disciple of the Chasam Sofer – interesting letter about a debt payment – Jerusalem, before 1900
Rabbi Yitzchak Prague (1820-1900) studied at the yeshiva of Maran the Chasam Sofer and by the order of his Rav, immigrated to Jerusalem in 1838. Although he was born in Prague, in Jerusalem, he adopted the customs of the Sephardic community of Jerusalem. He married the daughter of the Rishon LeZion Rabbi Yaakov Moshe Ayash. Alongside being a great Rav, Rabbi Yitzchak also practiced medicine and pharmacy, helping poor patients and opening hospitals.
