Divrei Shalom by Rabbi Sholom Yitzchak Levitan. Katburg Brothers Press, Budapest, (1924), single edition. With the author’s dedication to the Gaon Rabbi Yosef Chaim Sonnenfeld.
[8], 48 pp. 21 cm. On the title page, the author’s stamp and a dedication handwritten and signed by him to the Gaon Rabbi Yosef Chaim Sonnenfeld. With approbations by Rabbi Avraham Yitzchak Hacohen Kook (London, 1917) and Rabbi Mordechai Yitzchak Isaac Rabinowitz (Memel, 1919).
It should be noted that beneath Rabbi Kook’s letter of approbation, the author added: "He is the true great Gaon… Gaon Av Beis Din of Jerusalem and Chief Rabbi of the entire Eretz Yisroel". Rabbi Yosef Chaim Sonnenfeld, who received this copy from the author, did not accept Rabbi Kook’s appointment as the Rav of Jerusalem in 1919 and continued to call him the Rav of Jaffa.
The Gaon Rabbi Sholom Yitzchak (ben Rabbi David Ben Zion) Levitan (1878-1941) – served as Av Beis Din of Jásd (Lithuania) and later as Rav and Av Beis Din of Oslo (Norway), editor of the Hamaggid journal and author of Diveri Shalom, Yalkut Hadrush and Sukkat Shalom Yitzchak. Wrote many articles that were published in many religious journals. Perished in the Holocaust.
The front cover was missing and replaced with a blank leaf. On the inside of the leaves there are holes caused by a previous binding. Good-very good condition.
