It is told that when the holy Rav the Tiferes Shlomo received the holy book the Bat Ayin, he wore festive clothes and handed out glasses of brandy to all his disciples. In addition, he named his son and successor the author of Chessed LeAvraham the name Avraham Dov Ber after the Bat Ayin [Niflaot haTiferet Shlomo].
In the Chassidic world, this book was considered a sacred one and was studied by leading Chassidic rabbis. Recently, his gravesite in Safed became famed as a place of prayer and salvation and thousands come to it to pray.
The printer, Rabbi Yisroel Bak, immigrated to Safed from Berditchev (Ukraine) in 1832 and founded a Hebrew printery. Two years later, the printery was destroyed and rebuilt, only to be destroyed again in the earthquake of 1837 that destroyed most of the city. Subsequently, Rabbi Yisroel Bak moved to Jerusalem and with the help of Sir Moses Montefiore, built his printery there. This book is one of the two last books that were printed in Safed by Rabbi Yisroel Bak, before his printery was destroyed.
