Ownership notations and an owner’s signature of the Ger community 1911 and a notation in Sephardic script מהגביר חכם המרומם… חיים יהושע צונצין נ"י נס"ו" referring to the philanthropist Rabbi Chaim Yehoshua ben Rabbi Moshe Tzuntzin (1755-1797), a descendant of the Soncino family, the pioneers of Hebrew press in Italy, Turkey and Egypt. He assisted in the printing of the books Meir Bat Ayin (Izmir, 1755)and Mateh Shimon (Salonika, 1797). In 1753 built a large synagogue in Izmir, which was named after him.
New leather binding with gilt lettering. Aging stains. Some moth holes. Good condition.
