Religious Letter Handwritten and Signed by the Gaon Rabbi Mordechai Rubin Av Beis Din of Zamość – Sent to the Grandson of the Pnei Yehoshua, Rabbi Mordechai Zvi Yules Hacohen – Lviv, 18th Century
Religious letter of Chiyuv Shevi’ah and Aggadic innovations handwritten and signed by the great Gaon Rabbi Mordechai Rubin Av Beis Din of Zamość to Rabbi Mordechai Zvi Yules Hacohen of Lviv.
The Gaon Rabbi Mordechai Rubin (passed away in 1838) served as Av Beis Din of Zamość. One of his famed disciples there was the renowned Gaon Rabbi Shlomo Kluger. Later, Rabbi Mordechai Rubin served as Moreh Tzeddek and Dayan in Lviv, at the Beis Din of the Yeshu’os Yaakov. Authored works on Hilchot Shabbat and the Sugyot of the Shas, which were not published. At the end of the book Baruch Ta’am, two lengthy responses by him were printed.
The addressee, Rabbi Mordechai Zvi Yules Hacohen, was the grandson of the Pnei Yehoshua. Lived in Lviv. His son os the famed Gaon Rabbi Yeshaya Yules, author of Shut Zecher Yeshaya.
