Tur Beit Yosef, Yoreh Deah – Venice, 1574 – an edition that was published In the lifetime of the author Maran the Beis Yosef – with the signature of the Gaon Rabbi Feibish Hillman Av Beis Din of Hanau, the Noda BiYehuda’s in-law – dozens of ancient glosses – ancient signatures – incomplete copy
On the last leaf of this copy, the signature of the Gaon Rabbi Feibish Hillman Av Beis Din of Hanau: "הק’… פייבש בלא"א מו’ הגאון הגדול מהור"ר שמואל הילמן נר"ו אב"ד … דק"ק מנהיי’ ואגפי’".
Rabbi Feibish Hillman (passed away in 1770) was the son of the famed Gaon Rabbi Shmuel Hillman Av Beis Din of Krezmir, Menheim and Metz, the in-law of the author of the Noda BiYehuda and the father-in-law of Rabbi Shmuel Labdau, author of Shivat Zion. This signature was signed during the rears 1726-1751, when his father, Rabbi Shmuel, served as Av Beis Din of Menheim.
This volume contains dozens of scholarly glosses, some of them lengthy, by several writers. Some of them from the 18th century and some from the 17th.
At the beginning of the volume, two ancient signatures: מ’ שמעון [?] בן המנוח כתריאל ז"ל"; "זאת קניתי לעצמי מיד התורני החריף ה"ה המאור הגדול סג"ל [?] אב"ד דעיר דאברזישצע, וע"י זה שלי הוא, דהיינו של הק’ זאב בר"ש סופר סת"מ מדאברי ולע"ע בק"ק … ".
Additional signatures appear in the middle of the volume: "הק’ זאב וואלף בר"ש מדאברי" (leaf 67a); "הק’ מענדל… " (leaf 99a).
2-400; [28] leaves. The title page is missing. 34 cm. Most of the leaves are in good condition. A large tear to leaf 8, affecting a large part of the text. Tears to the edges of the first leaves. Stains. Dampness stains on the last leaves. Renewed binding.
