Sefer Zioni, elucidations on the Torah al Derech HaEmet, authored by Rabbeinu Menachem Zioni, one of the earliest rabbis of Ashkenaz, third edition, Koretz 1785.
On the title page, the special stamp of Rabbi Avraham Matisyahu of Shtefanesht, a Ruzhiner Tzaddik, the grandson of the Rav Tiferes Yisroel of Ruzhin, who was famed for the power of his prayer.
On the title page, an ownership notation of the Beis Midrash and library of Rabbi Berish Av Beis Din of Sdeh Lavan, the father-in-law of Rabbi Yerachmiel of Pershischa and the btoher-in-law of the Baruch Taam. A similar notation appears on several other leaves. In addition, a late signature of the Admor Rabbi Moshe Roke’ach of Kozlov.
The author Rabbeinu Menachem Zioni, one of the earliest rabbis and Mekubalim of Ashkenaz, was the son of Rabbi Meir, a descendant of Rabbi Y. Ben Yakar.
This book, Sefer Zioni on the Torah is an elucidation al Derech HaEmet compiled from the Zohar, Sefer Habahir, the Rambam and Ramban. Two editions of the book were published in Cremona before this one.
Rabbi Avraham Matisyahu of Shtefanesht was one of the leading Chassidic wonder-workers. Thousands followed him from the countries of Eastern Europe. When his body was brought to Eretz Yisroel, dozens of years after his passing, it was miraculously complete as on the day he had passed away. His gravesite in Givatayim attracts thousands who come to it to pray for salvation and good health.
Rabbi Dober [Berish] Av Beis Din of Sdeh Lavan (1787-1830) was the son of the Gaon Rabbi Meir Av Beis Din of Kroshnik, the son-in-law of the Gaon Rabbi Yehoshua Yechezkel Feibel Teomim and the brother-in-law of the Baruch Taam. Was the in-law of the Yehudi Hakadosh of Pshischa. Rabbi Dober had a large library in his Beis Midrash in Sdeh Lavan and this book was one of its books.
92 leaves. Slight professional restoration to the title page and last leaves. Stains. Slight wear. Full, complete binding, reinforced and restored. The stamp is slightly faded. Good condition.
