Approbation handwritten and signed by the Admor of Papa, author of Vayechi Yosef on the first book of the Tzaddik Gaon Rabbi Shamai Kehat Hacohen Gross, an important Belzer Rav.
In his approbation, the Vayechi Yosef writes: ‘שיזכה לעמול בתורה וללמוד ולהגות בה עוד לכוין לאמיתה של תורה להגדיל תורה ולהאדירה’.
The famed Tzaddik Gaon Rabbi Yosef Greenwald of Pápa [1903-1984], the Rav and leader of Pápa, Hungary. The son of the holy Gaon Rabbi Yaakov Yechizkiya the son of Rabbeinu the author of ‘Arugas Habosem’. After his marriage, he was appointed Dayan in Satmar beneath his uncle and teacher the holy Gaon Rabbi Eliezer David of Satmar. He headed the ‘Keren LeDavid’ yeshiva in Satmar. After the Holocaust, he established the Pápa community. Was renowned for his piety and genius and many were saved by his blessings.
