Handwritten volume, Sefer Kneh Chochmah Kneh Binah – innovations and elucidations on the Shulchan Aruch and its commentators, handwritten by the author the Gaon Rabbi Yechiel Av Beis Din of Vizan – at the beginning of the work, handwritten approbatoions by five leading rabbis of Lithuania, including an approbation by the Gaon Rabbi Yehuda Bachrach Av Beis Din of Sieni – Vizan (Lithuania), 1837 – not published
On the title page of this volume, the author writes: "ספר קנה חכמה וקנה בינה, והוא חידושים וביאורים על הפוסקים האחרונים הלא המה הגאונים המפורסמים, הסמ"ע והש"ך והט"ז, ועל קצת מקומות בדברים הסתומים שבמהרש"א, וגם דרושים נחמדים, לפרט ‘קנה חכמה גם בינה והן הם לבד ילווך לא זהב’ לפ"ק" [=תקצ"ז].
Most of the work is on Choshen Mishpat and Yoreh Deah and some at its end, on Even Haezer and additional matters. In the section of Even Haezer, the author copies a response he wrote on Hilchot Gittin in 1825. At the end of the volume, Likutim and Drushim.
Fine script, with corrections, erasures and glosses on the margins of the sheet.
At the beginning of the work, there is an introduction by the author, describing its content. It is signed at its end: "הקטון יחיאל במוהר"ר משה זצללה"ה החונה פה ק"ק וויזאן הסמוך לק"ק קאלוועריעא, נין ונכד להרב בעל המחבר ספר זכירה, חתן הנגיד מוהר"ר צבי הירש ווילנער מק"ק וואלקעוויסק, שהוא מגזע הגאון המפורסם רבן של כל בני הגולה מוהר"ר מרדכי יפה בעל הלבושים".
At the beginning of the work, five approbations by Lithuanian rabbis. They were given in the years 1833 and 1834 (we did not manage to identify all the signatures of the approbators).
The first approbation is handwritten and signed by Rabbi Yehuda Bachrach Av Beis Din of Sieni, author of Hagahot Rabbi Yehuda Bachrach and Nimukei Rabbi Yehuda Bachrach, which were printed in Shas Vilna.
The second approbation is handwritten and signed by Rabbi Yaakov ben Rabbi Pinchas Av Beis Din of Ludvinavi, author of Sefer Gufei Halachot on Masechet Nidah (Warsaw, 1822).
To the best of our knowledge, manuscripts by these two rabbis have never been seen in auctions.
The approbations contain information about the author.
