Rabbi Shimon ben Rabbi Meir Leib Horowitz (1870-1946) a Rav, tzaddik and Kabbalist, known as Rabbi Shimon Mekubal and Rabbi Shimon Leader. Immigrated to Jerusalem in 1887 and studied at the Etz Chaim Yeshiva and the Beis El Yeshiva of Kabbalists. In 1899 was sent by the rabbis of Jerusalem to search for the Ten Lost Tribes in the Far East, traveling as far as Tibet. In 1906, founded, with Rabbi Chaim Yehuda Leib Auerbach, the Sha’ar Hashamayim yeshiva of Kabbalists and was a teacher there for forty years.
