Personal calling card of Maran the Gaon Rabbi Akiva Sofer of Pressburg with a short letter of greetings on its verso. From his early days in Eretz Yisroel. 

The personal calling card of  Maran ‘עקיבא סופר בה"ג מהרשב"ס זצ"ל אב"ד דק" פרעסבורג יע"א’ – which he brought with him to Eretz Yisroel. 

On verso of the card, the Gaon Rabbi Akiva Sofer asks how long will Rabbi Moshe Blau, the leader of Agudas Yisroel in Jerusalem, remain in London and will he postpone his trip to Eretz Hakodesh.   

The Gaon Rabbi Akiva Sofer of Pressburg, author of the Daat Sofer (1878-1959) Gaon Av Beis Din of Pressburg, one of the greatest rabbis and leaders of his generation. The great-grandson of Maran the Chasam Sofer and the successor of his ancestors the Kesav Sofer and the Shevet Sofer in leading the community and heading the Yeshiva of Pressburg. He served as the president of the Orthodox communities of Hungary. He immigrated to Eretz Yisroel shortly before the outbreak of World War II, reestablished the Pressburg Yeshiva in Jerusalem, and was appointed to serve as a member of Moetzet Gedolei HaTorah.
