Letter handwritten and signed by the Gaon Rabbi Eliezer Rabinovich, the son-in-law and successor of the Gadol of Minsk, to the Rav of Siemiatycze, on Kashruth matters and with his blessings. 1901.
In the letter that was sent to his friend the Gaon Rabbi Yosef Dov Rushkin, the Rav of Antopol and Av Beis Din of Siemiatycze, he recalls his efforts to supervise sellers of fat and more. He also describes the special stamping of cases of fat to indicate their Kashruth.
In those years, this was a novelty and possibly, these were the first Kashruth stamps of modern times, especially in Lithuania.
In the second part of the letter, he blesses his friend for his donations to the yeshiva and his efforts to raise funds for it. He also blesses him with a good and blessed year, happiness, success, joy, Yeshu’ah and Nechamah.
The letter is handwritten and signed by him.
The Gaon of Minsk Rabbi Eliezer Rabinowitz [1859-1924] the son-in-law of the Gadol of Minsk, Rabbi Yerucham Leib Perlman, one of the leaders of religious Jewry in Lithuania, one of the founders of Agudas Yisroel in Hamburg and a disciple of the Beis Halevi. Succeeded his father-in-law as Rav of Minsk, a position he held for approx. thirty years. His book MIshnat Eliezer contains some of his Torah.
