Letter of recommendation written by Rabbi Zalman Sorotzkin, Gaon Av Beis Din of Lutsk, on verso of his personal calling card. Tel Aviv, 1935. 

In mid-1935, the Gaon Rabbi Zalman Sorotzkin visited the Holy Land, to smooth things over in Agudas Yisroel and the Moshavot of the Holy Land. During his visit, he wrote this letter of recommendation for Rabbi Shlomo Koslovsky of Volozhin, writing that he is a Ben Torah who studied all his life in varied yeshivas. 

The recommendation is handwritten by him and signed ‘זלמן סורוטשקין’  – as he used to sign in his days in Lithuania. Written on the card: ‘זלמן בהגה"צ ר’ בן ציון זצ"ל סארטשקין נשיא ועד הרבנים הממשלתי לעניני הסמיכה למדינת פולין. אב"ד לוצק’ (Zalman the son of the Tzaddik Gaon Rabbi ben Zion Sorotshkin president of governmental council of rabbis for Semicha matters of the state of Poland. Av Beis Din of Lutsk’. 

Maran the Gaon Rabbi Zalman Sorotzkin Gaon Av Beis Din of Lutsk [1880-1966] – a student of thr Slabodka, Volozhin and Telz yeshivas. Served as Av Beis Din of Lutsk and the vicinity of Vohlin. In 1940, immmigrated to Eretz Yisroel and was the chairman of Vaad Hayeshivos in Eretz Yisroel, president of Mo’etzes Gedolei HaTorah and chairman of the independent education. Author of Sefer Oznayim LaTorah and more. 

Printed calling card. On its verso, a letter handwritten and signed by the Gaon Rabbi Zalman Sorotzkin. Filing perforations. Minor stains. Good-very good condition.
