[3], 154 leaves. 30 cm. On the title page the signature of "משה בכר יעקב ג’וקריל". With an ownership stamp of the grandsons of the Admor of Tisa Salka.
Rabbeinu the Chabif, Rabbi Chaim Palachi (1788-1868) one of the greatest Sephardic Poskim and Mekubalim of all time. Was born in Izmir to his father Rabbi Yaakov. On his mother’s side, he was a descendant of the Rishon LeZion Rabbi Yosef Raphael ben Chaim Chazan author of Chikrei Lev, served as his Meshamesh and received his Semicha from him. In his Sefer Tzava’ah MeChaim, Rabbi Chaim recalls his early years: "May Heaven and Earth be my witnesses that since the day I became knowledgeable until I was twenty years old I would study diligently day and night without any Bitul". Rabbi Chaim studied Torah with Rabbi Pinchas di Shigora. In 1837, Rabbi Chaim was appointed Av Beis Din of the great Beis Din of Izmir and in 1855 was appointed Chacham Bashi of the Jews of Turkey. Rabbi Chaim authored dozens of compositions on all subjects of the Torah.
The Gaon Rabbi Yoel Zvi ben Rabbi Yaakov Moshe Roth (1898-1958) Av Beis Din and Ram of Tisa Salka and the vicinity and Rav of the Beis Midrash of his uncle in Kleinwardein. Great-grandson of the holy Gaon Rabbi Yoel Zvi, author of Responsa Beit HaYotzer. During the Holocaust, was deported to a labor camp. After the war, he moved to Brooklyn, where he served as Rav of the Kahal Beis Hayotzer Beis Midrash. Was famed for his Tzaddikut, Chassidut and Torah. Had vast knowledge of the Torah, knowing by heart the Bavli, Yerushalmi, Sifra, Safra and other Midrashim as well as the Ari’s writings.
