Studied Torah with Don Yitzchak Abravanel and was the brother-in-law of the author of the Akeidas Yitzchak – Rabbi Yitzchak Arama. Rabbi Yosef was one of the pillars supporting the exiled Jews of Spain. After the expulsion, he travelled with his son to many cities (Napoli, Ferrara and more) to support the exiles – financially yet mostly mentally and spiritually.
