Letter of greeting from Admor Rabbi Avraham Elimelech of Karlin HY”D, undated.
In the letter, the Karlin Rebbe acknowledges the receipt of money for charity which was sent by the Chasid Rabbi Aharon Heltowsky via the Chasid Rabbi Yehoshua Kroiz.
The Rebbe blesses:
“And he shall be blessed by He who blesses from above, with an abundance of blessing and success in all matters, may Hashem grant all his wishes for good and blessing as his heart desires and the desire of he who inquires after his peace and good and blesses him with all good.”
The Rebbe adds more blessings in his own hand: “and with a Kosher and joyous holiday, Avraham Elimelech, son of the holy Rabbi ZTZ”L.”
The holy Rebbe, Rabbi Avraham Elimelech of Karlin (1891-1942) was the son of the holy Rebbe, Rabbi Yisrael of Karlin (the Yenuka), and his successor in the city of Stolin and Karlin. People flocked to him from all corners of Wahlin. He established a large Yeshiva for hundreds of students, and was greatly admired by all the Gedolim of the time. His disciple, Rabbi Moshe Mordechai of Lelov described him as ‘our generation’s Ba’al Shem Tov’.
He conducted 4 lengthy visits to the Holy Land, in the years 1925, 1928, 1933, and 1939, and left his indelible mark there. His last visit took place on the eve of WWII, and throughout his travels in Eretz Yisrael he spoke clearly about dark clouds that are covering Europe. In spite of this, and despite numerous imploring from his Chasidim in EY, he returned to his city. He was murdered sanctifying Hashem’s name in Europe in Cheshvan of 1942.
