Notebook of Chiddushim which R’ Zalmen Reich heard from his teachers, during his youth, when he sat in the shade of his illustrious teachers, the sages of Hungary. For most of the lessons he wrote, either at the beginning or at the end, who said them and when and where they were said.
A major part of the notebook (possibly most of it) is taken from the Shi’urim of the Gaon Rabbi Moshe Tzvi Fuchs, Av Beit Din of Großwardein, author of responsa “Yad Ramah’ (Großwardein 1940).
On the (detached) cover is written “The small, Zalmen Reich”.
On the title page is written: “Chiddushim in Torah from my masters and teachers, who are the two golden pipes, the genius Rabbis, pillars of the world, wise and sharp, their praises can be sung endlessly – one, the elderly Rabbi Yosef Kalmen may his light shine, head of the Beit Din in Szerdahely, by whom I studied from the first of Iyar 5645 until the first of Sivan 5647 (Apr. 16, 1885-May 24, 1887), and the second Rabbi Yeshaya Ehrnfeld, who was Av Beit Din of Brezovitch and is now Av Beit Din of Sharshpotok, by whom I studied from the first of Cheshvan 5648 (Oct. 19, 1887) until… until the first of Av 5649 (Jul. 29, 1889), and also Chiddushim from my master and teacher the immense Gaon, Rabbi Moshe Tzvi Fuchs Av Beit Din of Großwardein.”
