Medrash Shocher Tov. Lemberg edition, 1861. Personal exemplar, with the holy signature of the Gaon, the holy Shamloyer Rov, Rabbi Shlomo Zalman Ehrenreich, and his holy sons.


Additionally, the signature of the Tzaddik, the Gaon Rabbi Moshe Halberstam, Dayan of the Eidah Charedis in Yerushalayim, one of the foremost Poskim of the recent generation.

On the title page is the full ex libris notation: ‘להו"מ הק’ שלמה זלמן עה"ר אבד"פה’ (The earth and all in it belongs to Hashem, the young, Shlomo Zalman Ehr[enreich] Av Beis Din here). Before the notation, the Shamloyer Rov notes how much he paid for the Sefer.

On the end flyleaf, the signatures of his holy sons, the Tzaddikim Rabbi Moshe Hehuda and Rabbi Shimon Zev Ehrenreich, dated 1920. Additional ownership notations.

The Gaon Rabbi Shlomo Zalman Ehrenreich, ‘Der Heiliger Shamloyer Rov’ (1863-1944) Av Beis Din of Shamloy. One of the greatest Poskim of his generation and an exalted Tzaddik. Left behind an abundance of work: the responsa Lechem Shlomo, Beis Shlomo, Eim Labina, and approx. forty additional works. The grandson of the holy Gaon, the author of Kol Aryeh who raised him and taught him Torah. A leading disciple of the holy author of Kedushas Yom Tov of Sighet and a Chassid of his son, the Rav Rabbi Yoel Teitelbaum of Satmar. Led his community with strength and power, instituted many regulations on various issues, while standing against the breach. Established a yeshiva and Talmud Torah. Perished with his community during the Holocaust.
