Letter from the holy Imrei Baruch of Vizhnitz – issues regarding Kollel Vizhnitz in Tzfas – Vizhnitz controversy. Oct. 1889.

The letter before us was handwritten by the known Gbbai, Rabbi Moshe Brommer, and is addressed to the recepients of the “Chaluka” of Kollel Vizhnitz in Tzfas. At the top of the letter is the stamp of the Rebbe of Vizhnitz:
“Baruch, son of the holy Tzaddik OBM of Vizhnitz”.

In the letter, the Rebbe requests the directors of the Kollel to investigate several monetary issues so as to remove any suspicions of embezzlement and wrongdoing.
At the end of the letter he mentions some unknown controversy: “…the Rabbi of Levov (most likely referring to Rabbi Yitzchak Aharon Itinga, Av Beis Din of Levov), the fire of hatred burns in him, as well as the fire of winning over nothing, and he does not wish to hear the words that are rightly spoken. Therefore they should seek a solution by suing him in a Rabbinical court through the Gedolim and Tzaddikim of this generation, and their complaint is not on us, and our hands id not spill this blood, and blame will be placed at the feet of those who whisper in secret who are at fault, and Hashem will not be willing to forgive him, and the throne of the Rebbe is clean…”

It is possible that this mysterious segment is connected with the deposing of Rabbi Yitzchak Aharon Itinga from the presidency of “Kollel Galicia” by emissaries, chassidim of Ruzhin from Tzfas, in 1877, as part of the famous Sanz-Ruzhin polemic.
