Sefer Darchei No’am by Rabbi Shmuel of Calabria – Königsberg, 1764 – first edition.

At the beginning of the Sefer is an extremely rare approbation from the Gaon of Vilna from Sivan 5522 (May, 1762).

The Sefer deals with explaining the wonderous and mysterious tales of the Amora Raba Bar Bar Chana, based on Drush, Remez, and Sod.

The Gra never gave out approbations to Seforim, besides for four exceptions. This Sefer is one of them (see Rabbi Betzalel Landau’s “Hagaon Hachasid of Vilna”, pg. 51). “The Sefarim where the Gra’s approbation was printed are extremely rare” (ibid. 61).
