Two pages in the holy handwriting of the holy Gaon Rabbi Shmuel Vital (forty-five lines per page), from a never-printed composition on Torah – Drush on Parshat Toldot – twice mentions Chiddushim from his father-in-law, Rabbi Yoshiyahu Pinto.

The Drush on these pages deals extensively with explaining the words of Chazal in tractate Berachot (62b): “…what did he see? Rav says he saw Yaakov Avinu… he saw the ashes of Yitzchak…he saw the silver of atonement… he saw the Beis Hamikdash…”

In this Drush, Rabbi Shmuel Vital quotes twice from the Chiddushim of his father-in-law, Rabbi Yoshiyahu Pinto, from the prominent Rabbis of Syria (author of Responsa “Nivchar MiKesef” and commentary on “Ein Yaakov”):
“And my master, my father-in-law explained… and similar to this my master and father-in-law OBM explained.”

Please see the Hebrew listing for biographical information on Rabbi Shmuel Vital.
