Letter from the Gaon Rabbi Mordechai Gimpel Yoffe of Różana to his son, the Gaon Rabbi Yaakov Yoffe. Różana 1885.
Iמ the letter, written very close to Pesach, Rabbi Mordechai Gimpel tells of the many hassles and that people are constantly coming to him to sell their chometz and to ask advice regarding issues of the holiday.
The letter itself deals with the virtue of silence and giving in, and other basic and important issues regarding the family, as well as his Chiddushim.
Rabbi Yaakov was the oldest son of the Gaon Rabbi ordechai Gimpel Yoffe, author of the ‘Hagadas Mordechai’ and ‘Elef HaMagen’.

Disciple of Rabbi Yitzchak, son of Rabbi Chaim of Volozhyn, author of ‘Nefesh HaChaim’. Acted on behalf of “Shivat Tzion” and for that cause was in touch with Rabbi Tzvi Hirsh Kalischer (disciple of the Gaon Rabbi Akiva Eiger, originator of the controversy regarding bringing sacrifices in this time), as well as with Rabbi Shmuel Mohliver. In his old age he emigrated to Israel and settled in Ekron and in Petah Tikva.
The recipient of the letter is his son,
the Gaon Rabbi Yaakov Rabinovich, who resided in Ludza, and was the rabbi of their relative, Rabbi Avraham HaCohen Kook, in his youth.
