Long Halachic responsum, in the unique and neat handwriting of Maran the Gaon Rabbi Mordechai Yaakov Breish, author of Responsa ‘Chelkas Yaakov’, and Av Beis Din of Zurich.
The question dealt herein regards a person who received a telegram on Shabbos, telling him that his father is ill, and that he must travel immediately to him. The response is broad, and clearly encompasses all the doubts involved in this question, the laws regarding it, proofs from Responsa Chasam Sofer and others, and proofs from all parts of the issue. The responsum is unsigned.
The Gaon Rabbi Mordechai Yaakov Breish, author of ‘Chelkas Yaakov’ (1896–1977) Gaon Av Beis Din of the ‘Agudas Achim’ congregation in Zurich, pillar of ruling in Europe and in his Responsa ‘Chelkas Yaakov’. His descendants serve as Roshei Yeshivos and giants of Torah in all circles and communities.
