Protection and rescue from plagues! Leaf of protection from a plague by Maran the Yismach Moshe of Oihel (Újhely). [Apparently the second half of the 20th century].
"שמירה למגפה ר"ל. סגולה מהרב הגאון בוצינא קדישא המפורסם לשם ולתפארת כקש"ת מו"ה ר’ משה טייטעלבוים זצ"ל מעיר איהעל" – Segulah for succes and protection from a plague estabished by the Yimach Moshe of Oihel [north-eastern Hungary].
[1] leaf, cardboard, 21X13 cm. Hebrew and a single line in Yiddish. Printed on the lower part of the leaf: "היארצייט של הצדיק הנ"ל זי"ע יהי’ אי"ה כ"ח תמוז" (The Yahrzeit of the above Tzaddik will be on the 28th of Tamuz).
The Gaon Rabbi Moshe Teitelbaum of Oihel [1759-1841] Gaon and Mekubal, knowledgeable in all subjects of the Torah. A revered wonder-worker. One of the greatest disciples of Maran the Chozeh of Lublin. His books, the Yismach Moshe on the Torah, Neviim and Ketuvim and Aggadot Hashas, Drashot and Likutim, and his Shut Heishiv Moshe are basic Halachic and Chassidic books.
Leaves for protection such as this one were common in Eastern Europe. To this day, thousands of Jews use this wonderful Segulah, especially during times of a plague.
