Twelve large pages in the holy handwriting of the “Arvei Nachal”, the holy Gaon Rabbi David Shlomo Eibshutz, Av Beis Din of Soroca – pages from the “Arvei Nachal” on the Torah, sermons on Parshas Behar, Chukas, and Balak.
In the sermon for Parshas Behar, he quotes the Ba’al HaTanya in the Tanya: “And I have seen similar to this in ‘Likutei Amarim’ which is called ‘Sifran shel Beinonim’, chap. 2 in the gloss, ibid.”
This is the only time the ‘Arvei Nachal’ directly references the Tanya, who was his contemporary, in his sefer.
In the new editions of ‘Arvei Nachal’ the editors note in many places that the source of the author’s words is the Tanya, but it is only here, in Parshas Behar, that the author himself states this.
There is also a difference between the manuscript and the printed version in that the print versions omit the words
“which is called ‘Sifran shel Beinonim’”, that appear in the manuscript.
The holy Gaon Rabbi David Shlomo Eibshutz (1755-1814) author of ‘Arvei Nachal’, one of the fundamental Seforim of Chassidus, and of “Levushei Serad’ on the halachot of Treifot. Av Beis Din of Soroca, Khorostkiv, and more, and at the end of his life in Tzefas. Was a disciple of the Maggid of Zlotshov. A wonderous genius, whose Halachic rulings serve as a base for all Jewry. The holy Rabbi Levi Yitzchak of Berdichov said about him that he had merited to see Eliyahu HaNavi. The holy Rebbe of Apt admired him greatly. His work ‘Arvei Nachal’ is a classic Chassidic composition of Drush, which has become popular by all those who delve and search, and his work ‘Levushei Serad’ was reprinted scores of times, and was quoted throughout the ages.
