“Our yeshiva, which is now in terrible danger”. An historic letter calling for the salvation of the Yeshiva of Grodno, handwritten and signed by the Rosh Yeshiva, the Gaon Rabbi Shimon Shkop. 1925.
The postcard was sent to the giant of Mussar, Rabbi Leib Chasman, author of ‘Or Yahel’.
In a rare instance, the entire letter is in his handwriting.
Sent to ‘the rabbi, the Gaon, great in Torah and deeds, Rabbi Aryeh Leib Chashman, Av Beis Din of Shchuchyn’, referring to the Maran, the great master of Mussar, Rabbi Leib Chasman, author of ‘Or Yahel’ and Rabbi of Shchuchyn at the time, the letter requests that he greet the messenger of the holy Yeshiva in Grodno, Rabbi Aharon Szurowsky, ‘to strengthen his spirit and support him however possible, for the cost of living is rising from minute to minute’.
Postcard. Light stains. Semi-detached stamps. Damage to the postal stamps that confirm sending and receipt of the postcard. Very good condition.
