Diploma of permission to serve as Shochet given by the Shochet Ubodek Rabbi Dov Ber to Rabbi Yeshaya Halevi Horowitz, with an affirmation by the Gaon Rabbi Shmuel Luria. Tzfas, 1917.
The document is signed by Rabbi Duber, son of Rabbi Avraham Zev, underneath which Rabbi Shmuel Luria adds in his handwriting “This is the signature of the extremely learned, elderly Shochet Rabbi Dov Ber, Shu”b, and he is trustworthy in his testimony on the above mentioned“ Gaon Rabbi Yeshaya Horowitz so that anyone may rely on him regarding what is written above, and I have affirmed and ratified as is right”. Below this, Rabbi Shmuel Luria signs his name and adds his stamp: “Shmuel Luria, Rabbi and Dayan for the community of Zibenbirgen and Siladi”.
