Postacrd. Handwritten letter written and signed by the Gaon Rabbi Yosef Leib Sofer, Av Beis Din of Paksh, author of “Yalkut Sofer” – Paksh, late 1905 – blessings for the new year.

The letter is addressed to Rabbi Tzdok Krausz, scribe of Kollel Ungarin in Jerusalem.

In the letter he writes: “I will let you know that on the eve of Rosh Hashana I received the beautiful Etrog sent on behalf of the Kollel… and much thanks for his toil and goodness, you have livened my soul, as the Esrogim available abroad now are not elegant at all”.

At the closing he requests that his name be mentioned at the holy places in the holy land. For this purpose he writes his name and that of his mother and wife: “Yosef Yehuda son of Chaya Sarah, Rachel daughter of Serel.”

Please see the Hebrew listing for biographical information on the Yalkut Sofer.
