Manuscript. Pamphlet of Piyutim. Morocco, 1905, with a wish for the downfall of the Russian Czar Nikolai II during the Russia-Japan war.

Liturgies in Hebrew and Ladino for a Bris, for weddings, for celebrating the birth of a girl, various holidays, and a lament said when a Torah scholar passes away.

Please see the Hebrew listing for a detailed list of the various liturgies.

Some Piyutim have missing stanzas, others exhibit differences from the known printed versions, and one has additional lines that are not printed elsewhere.

On Pg. 16b is a calculation of the redemption date, quoted in the name of Rabbi Shamshon of Ostropolya, which works out to 5665 (1905), and it says that after Czar Nikolai II will be defeated by the Japanese army (during the 1904-1905 war), the redemption will happen. Many Russian Jews, who suffered greatly from Pogroms and riots, as well as many Jews around the world, including the author of this compilation, prayed for the fall of the Czar. Contrary to the expectations written the Czar was deposed only during the 1917 revolution, and was executed in 1918.
