Bis Din confirmation, signed by Rabbi Yehuda ben Moshe ibn David VeYosef and Rabbi Yosef Chaim Samon, with the signatures of the witnesses Rabbi Moshe ben Menachem Monsoñego and Rabbi Yehoshua ben Matityahu Siriro. The document references the testimony of Rabbi Eliyahu HaTzarfati, Av Beis Din of Fez, and that of Rabbi Avraham Halevi ben Chasdai, trustee of the Fez community.
Rabbi Yehuda ben Moshe Ha”n ibn David VeYosef – document scribe, from the sages of Fez.
Rabbi Yosef Chaim Samon – Born in Fez, later moved to Tétouan and from there to Livorno.Author of Sefer ‘Edut Biyehosef’. The Chida writes in his approbation to the Sefer that it is “the handiwork of a great man, elder teacher, holy and exalted…Rabbi Yosef Chaim ben Samon OBM. Illustrious wisdom, complete and fruitful Torah… giant of a Rabbi, G-Dly mekubal, who saw with the divine sight.”
Rabbi Moshe ben Menachem Monsoñego (passed away in 1800) – from the sages of Fez. The name ‘Yedidya’ was added on to his name at a later time. In his later years was appointed as Dayan in the Beis Din of Rabbi Eliyahu HaTzarfati in Fez. Authored several manuscripts which were lost during the pogroms in Fez. His son, the Gaon Rabbi Refael Aharon Monsoñego, Av Beis Din of Fez, would sign “Son of my Master, my Father, the great G-D fearing man of Torah, Yedidya Moshe OBM”.
Rabbi Moshe Seriro [the second] ben Matityahu (passed away in 1814) – Moreh Tzedek, pious and ascetic, from the sages of Fez. Fasted most of his days and left behind several rulings.
Rabbi Eliyahu ben Yosef HaTzarfati (1715-1805) – disciple of the holy Or HaChayim. Was ordained by the Av Beis Din of Fez, Rabbi Yaakov Even Tzor, AKA the Yaavetz. Rabbi and Av Beis Din in Fez. Raised many students, signed on hundreds of Halachic rulings, authored hundreds of sermons and many Seforim, some of which were never printed. The Chida mentions him in Shem HaGedolim as an immense Talmid Chacham, from an illustrious family.
