Halachic responsum regarding names in Gittin, by the famous Gaon Rabbi Shlomo Eiger, Av Beis Din of Pozen and Kalisch – with his signature, additions, and corrections – five large pages – Posen, 1850.
This responsum was printed in his Responsa Sefer, published by ‘Mosad Harav Kook’, Even Ha’ezer, §23, but omits the date written at the beginning: “Thursday, 18 of Shvat, 5610 (Jan. 31, 1850).
The immense Gaon Rabbi Shlomo Eiger (1787-1852), Rav of Posen and Kalisch, son and successor of his great father, Rabbi Akiva Eiger. Fought the wars of Torah, from the giants of the generations. His son and successor was the holy Gaon, Admor Rabbi Yehuda Leib Eiger, founder of the Lublin dynasty, despite his father being one of the opposers of Chassidus. Author of “Gilton Maharsha” and more.
