Postcard in Yiddish, from the great Gaon Rabbi Moshe Shotzkes, Av Beis Din of Łomża, on behalf of the orphanage in the town of Iwia, during the time he served there. 1924.


The postcard was sent to an American Rabbi who used to support the orphanage and send donations in Dollars.

The great Gaon Rabbi Moshe Shotzkes (1881-1959), from the leading Rabbonim of Lithuania and the US. His mother remarried to the Gaon Rabbi Itzeleh Balzer, who raised him. Studied in Slobodka and Telz and was from the greatest disciples of the Geonim Rabbi Refael Shapiro and Rabbi Eliezer Gordon. Served as Rabbi in Lipnichuk, Iwia, and later as Av Beis Din of Łomża. Succeeded Rabbi Shimon Shkop in leading the yeshiva in Grodno and after escaping to the US was appointed to lead Yeshiva Rabeinu Yitzchok Elchonon.
