Postcard to the Gaon Rabbi Yehuda Singer, Av Beis Din of Várpalota. 1934.
The writer, Rabbi Yirmiyah, complains about the low level of observance among the Orthodox community in Budapest, and of his being stunned at the fact that only a small amount of them respond with “Amen Yehei Shmei Rabba” by Kaddish.
He suggests to Rabbi Singer that he should work to bring up his brother-in-law as a candidate for the Rabbinate in one of the towns near Pest, thus helping in increasing the level of Torah and observance in the entire area.
