Long letter, entirely handwritten and signed by Maran the Gaon and Tzaddik Rabbi Michel Yehuda Lefkowitz, Rosh Yeshiva of Ponevezh for juniors and from the giants of the last generation, regarding the importance of the study of Seforim of Mussar and Piety among Kollel members.

Rabbi Michel expounds on the importance of consistent study of Sifrei Mussar, and requests that it is not enough the Yeshivos have a Seder Mussar, yet in the Kollelim this study has been dropped aside. On the contrary, it is of even greater importance after getting married, as the years of youth pass and the strengthening of the trials and tribulations which surround one from all sides.

The Gaon Rabbi Michl Yehuda Lefkovitz [1914-2011] was Rosh Yeshiva of Ponevezh for juniors, member of Moetzes Gedolei HaTorah of Degel HaTorah and one of the leaders of the Lithuanian community. During his life he was referred to many times by the title ‘Glory of the generation’ or ‘Father of the Yeshivos’. Born in Valozhyn and studied at the Ramailis Yeshiva by his distinct teacher and Rav, Rabbi Shlomo Heiman. Later he published his Rav’s lessons. In Eretz Yisrael, he was close to Rabbi Isser Zalman Meltzer and to his rabbis at the Hebron Yeshiva: Rabbi Yechezkel Sarna, Rabbi Aharon Cohen and Rabbi Leib Chasman. With time he also became close to the Gaon the "Chazon Ish". For many years he headed the Ponevezh Yeshiva for juniors and his disciples include the Geonim Rabbi Chaim Kanievsky, Rabbi Nissim Karelitz, Rabbi Meir Zvi Bergman, Rabbi Dov Tzvi Karlenstein and many more.
