Letter from the Gaon and Tzaddik Rabbi Asher Zev Werner, Av Beis Din of Tveriah – sent to the management of Yeshiva “Toras Chaim” in Yerushalayim. Tveriah, Aug, 1943.
In his letter, Rabbi Werner writes to the managers of Yeshiva “Toras Chaim” that he is transferring to them a donation sent by a donor from Peterson, NJ. He also thanks them for sending him a “memorial book” which was printed in 1943 in memory of his Rebbes, the brothers, the Geonim Rabbi Yitzchak Winograd and Rabbi Yosef Eliyahu Winograd, the Roshei Yeshiva.
At the end of the letter he writes: “the teachings of these Geonim, the true Tzaddikim, the GR”Y (Rabbi Yitzchak) and the GRY”E (Rabbi Yosef Eliyahu) OBM are dear to me in the extreme. May Hashem grant us the merit to see the increase of the importance of Torah and piety in our holy land, as was their will and aspiration. And I give thanks… for publishing the Sefer, and may it be the will that they should be able to publish more of their holy words in comfort. Their friend who seeks their peace and blesse them with a good yearand all good and the salvation of Israel soon – Asher Zev Werner.”
