Typed letter, signed by Maran the Rishon LeTzion Rabbi Ovadia Yosef to the activist and MP Rabbi Menachem Porush, regarding the elections for the Chief Rabbinate. 1978.

In the letter, he thanks Rabbi Porush greatly for not having supported the postponement of the electtions to the Ceif Rabbinate, for new Dayanim and for the Rabbinate Council, which were to have taken place at the time, but certain elements had attempted to postpone.

Maran Rav Ovadia Yosef saw an urgent need and great importance in holding those elections on time, and he was thankful to Rabbi Porush, who had been close to him for many years, for his efforts on behalf of that.

Note that Maran Rav Ovadia Yosef had studied in the “Bnei Tzion” school, which was run by Rabbi Moshe Porush, from the leaders of Agudas Yisroel and father of Rabbi Menachem Porush.
