Handwritten postcard from Maran the Rishon LeTzion Rav Ovadia Yosef, with his signature, with an explanation of one of his halachic rulings. 1964.

In the letter, he acknowledges the receipt of payment for vol. IV of Responsa Yabi’a Omer. Further on he explains why he wrote and noted in one of his rulings the fact that the defendant was a Beis Yaakov teacher.

Maran explains that he intended to discuss the question of the defendant’s credibility as opposed to that of the plaintiffs, and not to, heaven forbid, cast any aspersions on the institutes of Beis Yaakov,

The postcard was sent to Rabbi Menachem Porush, from the greatest activists of Agudas Yisroel and Member of Parliament for many years.

On the reverse side is Maran’s address, Elkanah 8 in Yerushalayim, and the recipient’s address, all in Maran’s handwriting.

[1] postcard. Handwritten and signed by Maran. Filing holes with slight damage to the text and signature. Postal stamps. Good condition.
