Kabbalistic Sefer with the rare page of the approbation of the Smichas Chachomim which is missing in most exemplars! Sefer Ohr Yisrael, by Rabbi Yisrael Yoffe of Shklow. Frankfurt an der Oder, 1702.
Ohr Yisrael, Kabbalah by Rabbi Yisrael Yoffe of Shklow. Frankfurt an der Oder, 1702-3. Single edition.
A large work on Kaballah. The first part is on the Agaddot and Tehillim, part 2 is on the entire Shulchan Aruch Orach Chaim. Includes many approbations. Especially elaborate woodcut title page, with the artist’s signature. The author was accused that the Sefer includes Sabbatean-leaning ideas. Due to this, there were many who concealed the Sefer, making it extremely rare. Most exemplars are missing page 7 (following the author’s preface), which has the approbation of Rabbi naftali Katz, the Smichas Chachomim, which was given two weeks after printing was completed, on Oct. 19, 1702.
[1], 7, 186 pp. Some page margins restored with old paper. Wear. Stains. Stamps and other unimportant notations. Later, complete binding with decoration. Almost fair condition.
