Mysterious and fascinating letter, handwritten by the holy hand of the holy Mekubal, man of wonder, Rabbi Yechezkiya Fisch of Hodes- Mátészalka HY”D – Written at the start of WWII – The letter deals with obtaining and studying maps and geographic books in an attempt to discover the exact location of the Sambatyon River, in order to make contact with “Bnei Moshe” who live beyond it, so as to hasten the redemption of Am Yisrael – Shevat 1940 – written on a postcard.
On the card also extensive blessings for abundant sustenance and “all sorts of salvations, blessings, and success”.
The letter was sent to his disciple, Rabbi Shmuel ben Fradel (Goldstein) who was in Budapest.
This postcard is a continuation of the one he sent his disciple in Ellul of 1939 (see catalog 48, item 11), in which he had requested from him to connect him with people who are familiar with maps of Asia and Africa and are interested in the subject, and especially to find people who would be willing to finance an expedition to discover and cross the Sambatyon. (He bases his quest on the words of the Bnei Yisaschar” on the Passuk “ועלו מושיעים בהר ציון”: “It is accepted by us that the ‘מושיעים’ are the sons of Moshe who are locked behind the Sambatyon, they will ascent the mountain of Zion”.
