“All is dependent on Mazel” – a letter handwritten by the holy Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Mendel of Pabianice, Rabbi of Kalish (Kalisz), in which he details a unique custom of his holy father, Maran the Sfas Emes of Ger, during a Hachnassas Sefer Torah.

The letter was sent to Rabbi Yitzchak Meir Fisch, a confidant and relative of the Tzaddikim of the Ger dynasty, on occasion of a Hachnassas Sefer Torah which he made.
In the letter, the holy Rebbe of Pabianice describes a Hachnassas Sefer Torah which occurred in his father, the holy Sfas Emes’s shul. When they had placed the Sefer Torah in the Aron Kodesh, the Sfas Emes announced loudly “Mazel Tov”, explaining that since “Everything is dependent on Mazel. Even a Sefer Torah that is in the sanctuary” (Zohar pt. 3, p134a), therefore he saw it fit to wish a “Mazel Tov” now that a new Sefer Torah was brought in.
The holy Gaon Rabbi Menachem Mendel of Pabianice and Kalisz (1878-1943), youngest son of the Sfas Emes of Ger, Rabbi of the illustrious communities of Pabianice and Kalisz. Son-in-law of the Chessed Le’Avraham of Radomsk, and in his second marriage son-in-law of Rabbi Moshe Prives, a descendent of the Nefesh Chaya. Was chairman of the Agudas Harabbonim in Poland, a leading member of the Mo’etzes Gedolei Hatorah and from the prominent Torah personalities of Poland.
