Responsum, handwritten and signed by the renowned and immense Gaon Rabbi Shlomo eiger, Av Beis Din of Posen regarding a release of an Aguna – written to the renowned Gaon Rabbi Yosef Peimer, Av Beis Din of Slutzk – four pages.
The responsum was printed in its entirety in Responsa Rabbi Shlomo Eiger, Even Ha’ezer §11.
The first two pages, as well as part of the third page are a transcription done by his son, Rabbi Yisrael Eiger. The upper half of the third page, and the entire fourth page are in Rabbi Shlomo Eiger’s handwriting. His signature appears on the third page.
The immense Gaon Rabbi Shlomo Eiger (1787-1852), Rav of Kalisch and Posen. Son, disciple, and successor of his illustrious father, Rabbi Akiva Eiger. Fought the wars of Torah, and was from the Gedolim of the generations. His son and successor was holy Gaon, Admor Rabbi Yehuda Leib Eiger, founder of the Lublin dynasty, despite his father having been one of the opposers of Chassidus. Authored the “Gilyon Maharsha” and other Seforim.
