Sefer Magen Avot, Ma’amarim of Chassidus on the Parshiot and the holidays, Shir Hashirim , collections on Nach and Derushim for weddings, by the holy Rabbi Shlomo Zalman Shneerson of Kopust, grandson of the “Tzemach Tzedek” of Lubavitch. Berdichev, Chaim Yaakov Sheftil press, 1902. First edition.

Complete set! Seven parts in 2 volumes. Two title pages for each part. The first six parts contain Ma’amarim which were printed from the author’s holy handwriting The Ma’amarim in the seventh part were printed from the notes of the “distinct listeners” and which the author “proofread them and corrected them in his holy hand”.

At the beginning of part 1 a preface from the publisher – the author’s son, Rabbi Yehuda Leib Shneerson, who writes: “and we named the Sefer ‘Magen Avot’ for that is the numeric value of his holy name Shlomo Zalman” (502), the publisher quotes his father, the author, regarding the extreme preciseness and the strictness on keeping the style of his ancestors and Rabbis: “I am careful not to change from the golden tongue of my grandfather, master and teacher (the Tzemach Tzedek) OBM, who had kept the golden tongue of the Alter Rebbe OBM, as he received it from the Rav the Maggid (of Mezritch) and he from the Ba’al Shem Tov. And when I keep my grandfather’s golden tongue, I speak with the holy words of all those of our Rabbis ZT”L”.

Rabbi Chaim Meir Heilman (author of “Beis Rebbi”), from the Chassidim of Chabad-Kopust, had a part in proofreading and printing the Sefer.
