Letter from the holy Rabbe, Rabbi Aharon Moshe Migeza Tzvi, a disciple of the “Chozeh of Lublin”, entirely in his handwriting and bearing his signature – with a blessing of “Visit all those who are childless with viable offspring” – with a prayer and a wonderous Segula for a woman who wishes to bear viable, male children – Yerushalayim, Elul 5603 (1843).
Before us is a letter written by the holy Rabbi Aharon Moshe Migeza Tzvi to his grandson, Rabbi Tzvi Hakohen of Botushan (Botoşani), dated “Fourth day of Selichot, 25 [Elul] 5603 (Wed. Sep. 20, 1843) here, Yerushalayim the holy city may she be rebuilt in our times”. In the letter, he writes that he prays for him and his wife to be blessed soon with a viable child.
Further on he writes to his grandson a wonderful Segulah for his wife to conceive, that she should keep herself from all anger and upset for a duration of forty days, and to pray for this: “And if your chaste and intelligent wife will be amenable to this, that each day, and at any time when she is confronted with grief or aggravation from any man or woman, be they from her household or without, she should say this: ‘Master of the world, remove the angry heart from me, and remove the proud heart from me’ until she feels that the anger and upset, which comes from pride, has left her… and there won’t be left in her heart and remnant of grief, but only joy, and to judge the one who angered her favorably.
And when she will conduct herself in this way for forty consecutive days then I have no doubt that she will be blessed, G-D willing, with a male child, viable issue. But when she counts these forty days she should see to it that they will be forty consecutive days…”
Still further on he writes to his grandson and disciple lengthy and wonderous things, which show a smattering of his immense knowledge and the loftiness of his soul. At the end of the letter, after Rabbi Aharon Moshe’s signature, are a few lines written in the hand of his son-in-law, Rabbi Elchonon Hakohen, Rabbi Tzvi Aryeh’s father, who was living in Yerushalayim at the time.
The holy Mekubal, Rabbi Aharon Moshe “Migeza Tzvi” of Brody (1775-1845, per Ency. Of Chassidus, vol. 1, pp. 195-196) – Disciple of the holy Chozeh of Lublin, the Saraf of Strelisk, and was connected to the holy Rebbe of Ruzhin. Was one of the sages of the famed Kloiz of Brody. Ca. 1830 he left Brody and immigrated to Eretz Yisrael. He first traveled from Brody to Romania, and stayed a while in Botushan, at the home of his grandson – his daughter’s son – Rabbi Tzvi Aryeh Hakohen (recipient of this letter). He remained in Botushan until 1839, when he continued on to Eretz Yisrael. During his stay in Botushan he greatly influenced the jews there, and many of them remained closely connected to him and kept up an exchange of letters even after his emigration to Eretz Yisrael (we see details of that in this letter). Considered the founder of the Chassidic settlement in Yerushalayim.
